A. The Clifton Town Council holds its regular meetings on the second Thursday of the month at 2 pm. There are special meetings or work sessions at times, meetings are posted here

A. You can access the last meeting minutes between 2018 and now, here on our website, after they have been approved by the Council they are posted onto the website. If you would like a paper copy or older minutes you would need to submit and pay for a public record request through the Town Clerk.

A. You may obtain the business license application on our website at www.cliftonaz.com All pertinent information related to business license regulations may also be viewed by searching for the Clifton Town Code on the town’s website.
What are the library hours?
• 9:00 am – 5:00 pm Monday thru Friday
• The library is not open on weekends or holidays.
What method of payment does the library accept?
• We are only set up for cash payments.
Does the library charge late fees?
• We do not charge a daily late fee for library items.
• However, we do charge a replacement fee for damaged or lost items.
• If there is a problem that needs to be addressed the system will put a temporary block on your account and send you a message to contact the library.
• Most issues are easily resolved and we encourage you to contact us.
How long can I check an item out for?
• Two weeks.
• Patrons can check out up to ten items at a time.

How do I find my hearing date?
On the lower right of your citation, there will be a date and time that you should appear.
What if the time to appear doesn’t work in my schedule?
For Civil charges, you can appear anytime “on or before” the date.
For Criminal charges, please call the court.
Can I have my hearing telephonically?
Yes, in most cases, you can appear at the first hearing telephonically. Please call the Magistrate Court to request a telephonic hearing.
What are my options if I receive a civil traffic citation?
Option 1: Pay your fine. Paying the fine means, you admit to the violation on your citation.
Option 2: Request a hearing by notifying the Magistrate Court’s Office, a court hearing will then be scheduled.
Option 3: Elect to attend a defensive driving course – call the court for details.

When will I get my police report?
Records Requests are processed on a first-come, first-serve basis. For a standard report, it has been taking up to 3-4 weeks to get the processing completed. (Due to Covid and staffing shortages).
I was involved in an accident; can I get the other driver's insurance information?
Absolutely! You can call dispatch and leave a message for records. Turnaround time for this information is approximately 3 business days.
I need my police report for court next week for an order of protection, can you rush that for me?
No, we cannot rush the process of a police report. We can, however, process a “Call for Service” for you. These are the records generated in dispatch and are a legal document that can be used for court.
My car was towed and is being held in impound. I need to set up an impound hearing so it can be released, how do I do that?
You have to call (928) 865-4566 to schedule an early release hearing.
I need to get a clearance letter for my employer, can you do this for me?
We sure can! We charge $10 for clearance letters and will need you to provide your valid state-issued ID card in order for this department to process that information. You can expect a clearance letter between 5-7 business days.
I need to request statistics for a specific offense type, I need these in one week.
Public Records are defined as a record that is generated during the regular course of business. If the record does not exist, the agency does not have to generate one just to meet the request. Statistical requests that are generated will be offered for these requests; however, if very specific information is required, that requestor will have to schedule a public inspection in order to obtain their own statistical data.
My partner and I just broke up. I need to go and pick up my stuff, can an officer come with me?
Yes, an officer can perform a 15-minute civil standby for you while you retrieve your personal belongings.
I need to get an order of protection. What do I do?
You can go to azpoint.azcourts.gov to start the process online, or you can contact the Magistrate Court or Justice of the Peace.
I locked my keys in my car, can you send someone to help me? Unfortunately, the Clifton Police Department does not have or utilize the equipment to perform this task, however, the Greenlee County Sheriff’s Department has this equipment.
I think I might have a warrant; can you check on that for me?
Unfortunately, we are unable to provide this information over the phone. You can come in and speak to an officer or call the courts to find out if you have any warrants.
I need to see if my family member is still in jail, can you help me with that? Please call the Greenlee County Detention Facility at (928) 865-4159
I found marijuana in my child’s bedroom; do I still need to report it since it is legal now? It is illegal for anyone to possess or use marijuana under the age of 21.
I got cited for allowing my child to drive without a license, that doesn’t seem, right?
Yes, this is correct. You can be charged with a misdemeanor crime for allowing anyone without a valid license or permit to drive your vehicle. Your vehicle will be towed for a 20-day hold as well if the driver has NEVER had a valid license or permit.
I need to speak to a specific officer; can you give me their phone number?
We do not release the personal information of our employees. You can call the station and leave a message for the officer you need to speak to.
I need to report a crime, but I only want to report it to the Chief of Police.
If there is an ongoing issue, you should not wait for a specific officer to be on duty before reporting it. If something is happening, you need to report it to whoever is available to assist you.
My pet bit someone and I don’t know where my rabies vaccination cards are. What is going to happen?
If your animal bites a human and is not current on rabies vaccinations (or you cannot provide these records) your pet will have to be quarantined at the Greenlee County Animal Impound for 10 days at a rate of $10 a day.
My pet is sick! Can Animal Control check him/her out to see what’s wrong?
Animal Control is not a veterinarian. She cannot diagnose your pets’ illnesses.
There’s a skunk under my house! Can you send Animal Control to get it?
Animal Control only handles living, domesticated animals. We do not handle wildlife, such as skunks, raccoons, or other vermin. You will need to contact pest control.
My dog died; can you have Animal Control come pick it up?
Animal Control does not handle dead animals. We cannot transport a deceased animal due to the possibility that an illness may spread to a living one.
At what age can I get my pet’s rabies shots?
Cat's and dogs first rabies vaccinations are given at 12-16 weeks of age. In the State of Arizona, Rabies vaccinations must be administered by a licensed veterinarian. A booster shot is given 1 year later, then every 3 years after that.
I found a dog/cat roaming around my street. Can I just keep it?
It’s preferred that you contact Animal Control, in case the owner has called looking for it. After 72 hours (3 days) the animal can be adopted out. If the animal has tags, the hold time is 120 hours (5 days).
Can I kennel my dog or cat at the shelter?
Unfortunately, we do not kennel animals for the public. There is a kennel in Safford that offers this service.
